This is the second of what I hope will be many collaborations with a knifemaker friend of mine. He has however asked that I not share his contact info here on DA. If any Admins want his contact so that they can talk about whether this is posted with his permission, please just ask. I have the full approval of my collaborator to post this work on DeviantArt.

Carved deer antler for the handle is my work, he handled matching it up with the Brass finger guard and 440c Stainless Steel blade.

This one was done differently from the other knife I've already posted. On this knife, he sent me the finished knife so I could carve the handle, rather than sending him the pre-carved antler. I think this one came out much better.
The second photo is from the underside, and the third one is a view down on the back.
This one and the other are for sale, but serious buyers should contact me via e-mail (murriblacksword@yahoo.com) or note. This one is $250 as well, with stand. I'll get photos of the stand as soon as I can.

Art Tip: Blue line autobody painting tape is your friend, when you need to mark a consistent width of ribbon on an organically shaped 3D object.
I have no shortcut other than insanity for carving Newgrange style spirals that are this small.

I love the delicacy of the spiral work here, and the way you've preserved so much of the natural antler shape and texture. Beautiful work. Do you mind if I take it as inspiration? I've been looking to get into antlerworking myself.

I'm glad to hear that you like it.
I never mind inspiration as long as people don't directly copy my work.

Of course! I wouldn't copy anything. If I worry that what I'm doing is too close for comfort, I'll contact you to make sure.

:) I'm not too worried. But I would LOVE to see what you come up with.

 But for some reason, he likes the other knife better... I'm honestly a lot more satisfied with this one. My friend has me all excited- he might be sending me a batch of 5 to work on over the winter, for delivery in late Feb, and he might put in an antler crown end handled knife with a recon gem set in it. I'm already toying with what kind of knotwork I'm going to use for the stone. :D Also, if he does that batch, they'll be in Axis deer antler, which sells for a bit more, so my cut will go up.

I just hope these two sell in October at the shows.
