Description
Materiel: 9/10 oz. English Tanned Leather, Testor's Model Paint.
EDIT: changed to a better photo. Etsy link now included.
Method: The celtic knot was burned into the leather with a pyrography tool, then the holes were punched and a piece of paper "mask" was temporaraly glued in place so that the Metalic Black color could be sprayed only on the outer area. There are actually 2 coats of Silver, then 2 coats of the Metalic Black to acheive this look.
(The photo doesn't do the depth of the color justice.)
I then hand painted in the Silver (2 coats) and left the burned brown color of the leather in the knot itself, as well as the texture.
All of this was done in Testor's model paints, as they have the best color and flexibility.
The stick is a sturdy black wooden dowel.
Time: Roughly 8 hours, over several days.
Comments: This looks fantastic when worn.
I'll try to get my fiance to take some pics of it in my hair.
It's really striking, and this one comes out nicely masculine. I also rather like the triangular shape better than the traditional oval or round shapes. I'm really pleased with how this one came out.
Price/Availability: Available, Leather only: $17 USD + Shipping.
Buy it on my Etsy: [link]
If you would like one of these in different colors, note me- if I can get the paint, I can do it in whatever color you like. Pricing is the same regardless of color.
