This is pipe # 2.

Disclaimer: I'm going to take some better pics. It looks too red in the shots I have, as they were taken with the sun setting. It's more of a medium tan/brown.

Another modified pipe of inexpensive commercial origin.

This one is Italian Briar, according to the stamp that was on the bottom of the stem before I worked it over. "Imported Italian Briar" was the exact words. Most of the time, the briar pipes just have "Italy" on them, or "Imported Briar".

It was originally stained with a really awful dark red/brown stain that almost completely hid the grain. I was honestly surprised to find pretty if not spectacular flame grain running mostly horizontal with a birdseye section on the front/bottom when I sanded it down.
It also had a couple little flat spots and a scratch or two that I sanded out of it. The commercial outfits aren't always careful about these things...

I was inspired by it's most noticeable feature: the wide rim around the bowl, so I carved it with a simple compass design that starts at the bowl and goes about two thirds of the way down the sides, leaving the rest smooth to show off the shape and grain. It has a silky smooth satin finish with beeswax put on while warm, heated and then rubbed by hand to make it have a warm glow.
I could be convinced to try giving it a more gloss finish for a little more $, but it feels really lovely in the hand as it is.

Like all my pipes, it has a Sterling Silver spacer with it's name, it's number and the date it was finished.
(Which was incidentally Nov. 4 of last year, making it's name really fitting.) The spacer also has "Carved by Lindsay Legler" and "Dreaming Dragon Designs" on it.
If you like, I can put your name on the other side if you buy it.

Unlike #1, this one is for sale.
It's $45, + $7 shipping to anywhere in the US.
I can ship international if it's legal to ship a pipe to your country, just note me to get an accurate shipping quote.

I prefer Paypal, but I can take USPS and Western Union money orders.

Wonderful rescue of a beautiful piece of wood! Now I half wish I smoked a pipe...

Thanks! I do know of collectors who don't smoke at all. :D
