I've recently been working on a lot of commissions for really precise and complex stuff. But sometimes, I have to take a break, and let my muse set me a more freeform task for relaxation, so that I can go back to carving intricate knotwork without going nuts. (Okay, without going more nuts...)
This is one of those tasks.
This piece started as a sketched shape, with no real idea of how I was going to decorate it, but with an intention of it being a bit like the round Earth Spirals pendant.
Instead, my fingers found the inspiration for this curvy, silky smooth form, concave on one side, with a nice smooth convex reverse.
Being white, it's a bit hard to photograph, and it's curves are best appreciated by touching it, but I'm hoping these two photos can give you an idea of how dreamily organic it's shape turned out. It feels really awesome to hold, and is just the right size to curve your fingers into the curves of, but small enough to look good when worn around your neck.
The thong tied to it is hand cut deerskin suede from a hide I picked up a couple years ago, and is long enough to tie at nearly any necklace length.
It's for sale - $50 +$7 shipping to nearly anywhere.
(That's Priority shipping inside the US, or First Class international shipping. I can do Priority international to most places for about $14.)
I accept Paypal, and if you ask nicely, Postal Money Orders.
I do plan on doing this shape again in the future, but not with this treatment, so if you like this one, go ahead and grab it. It's one of a kind and there will never be another like it.
It feels amazing to touch. It starts off feeling very cool and soothing, and warms up pleasantly in your hand. I just wish there was a way to convey the sensation across the internet.
