Celtic Ravens - Carved Jet Gauged Talon Earrings by DreamingDragonDesign Celtic Ravens - Carved Jet Gauged Talon Earrings by DreamingDragonDesign
1/2" gauged, carved from a single piece of Reconstituted Jet stone.

SOLD, Carved on commission.

These were commissioned by the amazingly patient ~Phoenix-Cry.

As always, the knotwork is the awesome creation of my husband, Phillip.

I'm not even sure what to say about these. They were difficult, but taught me things I wouldn't have learned any other way. I also count them as my best work so far.  So I'm really proud of them, but I don't want to carve another hollow form for awhile. :-)

And yes, they are hollow all the way to the start of the smooth area at the top. What I couldn't photograph right is that there is a little detail at the end of the spiral tails where I made a set of holes and a little hollow spot. It looks cool in person, but weird in pictures.

If someone really badly wants a pair in a similar style, the next pair starts at $600, and it'll take a year, minimum. Hollow forms are tricky, so you can't carve on them when tired unless you want a useless mess.

Woot! THANK YOU ^cakecrumbs !
I never expected this would get a DD, so thanks!
Please be patient, I will answer all the comments, and while I'm too swamped to thank for all the favs, do know that I love getting them.
I don't judge, favs without comments get love too. :-)

Aww, thanks!
I gotta ask, have these been seen somewhere other than my page? If so, can you drop me a link? I love seeing where my work has been featured.

I believe I found them on your page originally, but it's been so long I had forgotten! >: I couldn't' remember their title so I was really mad at myself when I tried to look them up to show a friend.. another friend found them when I posted a question about them and he pointed me back to your page :)

Using reconstituted Jet helps with that a bit, and with the cracks and splintering I've heard is a factor with the raw stuff. But yeah, it is messy. I love the stuff though...So nice to carve for detail work like this.
Glad ya like these, out of you that's high praise. :)
